I’ve seen that the bully report indicates Hawaii has no anti-bullying law. I disagree. While Hawaii does not have a law specifically called an anti-bullying law, it does have laws against harassment.

Hawaii has an anti-harassment law that recently was updated to cover cyberbullying. I would like to see Hawaii be more pro-active against bullying, but I think there are current laws that could apply to bullying.
I should mention that my daughter, who has the sensory gifts of Asperger’s syndrome, was bullied in fifth grade. She is now in high school and doing well. It helped that her school listened, and that they continue to listen, when issues come up related to her Asperger’s syndrome. This inspired me to write a short novel to teach tolerance of differences. See my blog for more information.

I forgot to mention resources. I know Hawaii had a bullypolice.org officer, who was very helpful, when my daughter was bullied. I found her through their site. I won’t list the name and number here as I’m not sure if she is still there, but the site lists numbers for every state I believe.
